Welcome to the official 2nd Sight homepage!
Sad news: Tjark has left the band again but remains as a good friend!!!
More news: Soon we'll enter the LSD-Studio in Lübeck (GER) to record our first full length album. Detailed Info coming soon ...Next gig: We'll be playing the Headbanger's Ballroom (HH) April 23rd together with Jon Oliva's Pain.
Our style is quite a mixture of melodic metal and rock music with the focus on being special and not comparable to anyone. We always try to be catchy as well as sophisticated in our songs and present those in a high energy stage performance.
The first two gigs were done as Sons Of Cain but that name did not really fit to our musical identity and therefore we decided to change into 2nd Sight.
In early October, only a few days after the album was done, Paco Gomez joined the band as our new and hopefully permanent guitar player.
“I started playing classical guitar in my youth, short after I turned into the electrical guitar and heavier music. From the very beginning I played with Christopher, the drummer of Rüdiger’s and my longtime band Fallacy (later Paradigm Shift).
Our music at that time was a quite complicated mixture of classical Thrash Metal (Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, Riot) and the stuff (progressive-) metal bands played in the 80's (Iron Maiden, Fates Warning, etc.).
In 2003 we decided to close the chapter Paradigm Shift. Now, to me 2nd Sight is the attempt to create music with new guys, that possesses melodic and harmonic freedom and reaches the listeners, but at the same time stays interesting from a musical point as well.”
“I started playing guitar 12 years ago in order to impress girls. That didn't work at all, however I learned a really awesome hobby.
From the beginning I played pop and all that sort of things that daddy's girls love, but when I grew up older and stop being a child, I start turning into heavier and more complex music. When you are 16, you are learning guitar and you watch a Yngwie Malsmteen video, you definitely want to be like him!!
My first band, "Deskozierto" was a joint adventure between friends with different influences but an incredible passion for rock. We tried to merge spanish reinvidicative rock with the metal trash stuff that we listened at that moment. It was a great experience and quite a lot of fun.
In 2004 we decided to finish with Deskozierto and evolve into a more complex music. After a few attemps, Liquid Shadow was founded with the idea of creating powerful and nice music and we focused on progressive metal. Unfortunately I had to leave the band but, fortunately, they are still active producing good stuff.
For me 2nd Sight is the opportunity to play again good music at the highest level.”
“Once upon a time, when I was eight years old and decaying in a Franconian hick town in southern Germany, my parents made me play the hooter, a circumstance that for my part almost ruined any interest in music. Many years later, right in the middle of the eighties, when synthie pop finally subsided and I had gradually discovered metal, I realized that I was different from all those little guitar players.
I was fascinated by the low frequencies itching in the stomach and I was unable to play the guitar with my chubby fingers anyway. So it was bound to happen that I bought my first bass guitar when I was 16 years old.
After my first attempt to form a metal band called Mega-lomania had totally failed, I joined the Kreissägen (circular saws), where I learned a lot about fun punk, indie, silly jokes and childish behaviour.
Years later, when I had finally managed to flee to the regional capital Würzburg, I could elevate my experience with a rock band called best before: and the progressive metal band Timesphere.
After another change of place to Karlsruhe – also in the south of Germany – I brushed up my stage acting with the black metal band Vindsval, the predecessor of a grotesque splatter theater band, now called Le Grand Guignol. I also kept in touch with progressive rock as a member of the band Sphaeron. In 2004 I was ready to go to Hamburg and join 2nd Sight.
Beneath those artists mentioned above who especially moulded my style of bass-playing I was also influenced by progressive rock, jazz and even hip-hop from Hamburg.”
“I started playing drums in the early nineties, only jamming around with a few people in the beginning which soon led to be my first band called Up Send Minded. After this band split up I joined Arctic Fields and recorded two E.P.`s with 'em. I was involved in some projects as well at that time.
In Summer 2008 I joined Scottish metal act Alestorm as a session drummer for their festival season and played the Wacken Open Air, Graspop, the Metal Camp and other big festivals in Europe.
Since January 2005 I play drums in 2nd Sight.”
“I started playing keyboards at the age of 14 switching to the guitar very soon for I really was into Metallica and Megadeth and wanted to play those songs.
About two years later I met SBo and we started our first band Fallacy, which emerged into Paradigm Shift a few years later. Unfortunately we never got a proper vocalist so I placed myself behind the mic.
With the founding of 2nd Sight I decided to concentrate completely on vocals. My main influences are based in the classical rock and metal scene including Bruce Dickinson, John Arch, Geoff Tate and Dio as well as Klaus Meine and Kai Hansen.
But I also have to mention Lou Gramm, Steve Perry, Meat Loaf and Dan McCafferty to name just a few …”
